She’s a mermaid sittin’
Outside of the world
Who are we to question
What she’s doing that for
Left the splish splish splash
Of the ocean behind
For the lunar surface
Outer space, her new dive
With the man in the moon
On Tranquility Sea
Star-crossed lovers
Egg incubating in the...
Wait, sorry, but I have to interrupt the poem.
I can’t help but wonder if the hatchlings
will have tailfins or legs.
What’s the heritability of that trait?
Maternal? Paternal?
Does it skip a generation?
And if they stay in space, will they develop
space-dwelling characteristics? Will they glow?
So many questions. So little time
Oh, man, looks like I spent too long
in my thoughts. There’s only one
line left. Ok. I’ll let you enjoy that one.
