Double Drabble

I got tagged for a drabble.
I had an idea what that was but still looked it up.
That’s usually the case, though. If I’m not sure about something, I’ll look it up.
I think that’s a good habit to have.
Good thing I don’t need to rely on those outdated encyclopedias or that huge 11” x 16” dictionary with a navy-blue, padded cover my parents had.
I had a lot of interactions with that book, many of which were not my own choosing.
A gold globe was stamped on the front.
I picked at that globe so much that there were places where large chunks of blue peeked through the filigree, almost as if parts of the world itself had broken away and fallen into the ocean like folks always said would happen to California if it had too many more earthquakes.
There had to have been a thousand pages in that dictionary. Thin, deli sliced, like vellum. Much different than the thick, blue-lined (wide ruled) notebook paper onto which I used to copy so many of those words.
I wrote until my hand cramped.
Oh, shoot. I think I looked up babble instead of drabble.
Ain’t that something.
This is the result of a tag (found here) from Ricky Champagne for a drabble challenge that began with Hai Dang, who published part of the piece on 7/29/2026.

I loved the part about "deli-sliced" pages. That was a nice touch and so true of those old books. Cool post.
